Richard Loncraine is a British film and television director. He studied sculpture at the Central School of Art before attending the Royal College of Art Film School. He directed his first networked TV documentary, “The Most Beautiful Hotel in the World” while still at film school at twenty-three. He then spent three years working for the BBC producing and directing short films for the science show, “Tomorrow’s World”. In 1970 he moved into advertising, where he directed over six hundred commercials during the next twenty years. During that time he alternated between directing major films in the US and the UK, with television dramas for HBO and the BBC.

He has won many international awards for his directing work including a technical Oscar for development of the first remote camera head that is now an industry standard throughout the world.
